Recently saw this blog about a child.... I guess this blog is setup by his parents to talk about their little kid... The way the blog is written suggests to me that.... there is this element of happiness.... haha... i dont know how to describe....

It has been a crazy semester... the first after my 2 year service with the nation. I just hope i cope well and do quite ok for it. Life in university have been tough i must say... hopefully this 1 semester of warmup is good enought for me to start my engine rolling for the year ahead.
I have also somehow decided to spend 2 weeks attending a course to learn skills and knowledge. Hope i will enjoy it ba.
Decided to watch the movie "enchanted" this afternoon. It is a great show. The ending of the movie reminds me of a friend (who happen to be attached and yet somehow have a crash on another) Wish him all the best and to get his "true love kiss" and "live happily ever after" 03 noviembre Foreign students at singapore university(Select School Stats)
According to stats in the year 2006, NUS enrolled almost 26% of foreign students (out of total undergraduate students). This figure is consistent (slightly lesser) at NTU. No figures for SMU.
Next, read this
Which says "University places for foreign students capped at 20%"
Nothing against foreign students. But seems like the government figures is a bit inconsistent?
Look at some US universities... UC-berkeley, MIT. The differences in numbers speak for itself =) 14 agosto Maths... Mats..... MAD!!!Started out my journey in nus with a horrible lecture.... a maths lecture...
I never really love maths.... didnt touch maths for a good 5 years! - last touch during my year 1 in polytechnic...
I guess i must be prepared to SU this module? Hopefully the other modules are not that bad... 09 junio Happy ORD to....Congras on completion of your National Service (June 07): -

- Mr You Wei - Keep in touch with Charissa lar... Hope that u found a job soon and take care! Cake Baking Experience(Blogging on past event.... May 2007)
I decided to design/bake(with guidance of course) a cake for mother's day this year! Got "pulled" in by Sylvia (who else with such funny ideas haha) and i though ya... not a bad idea... so go ahead.
I have to rush down after last parade in camp as that session is on a weekday evening. Had a quick bath and left camp to take the train there.
It was a rather quiet class... in fact.... very quiet... There was only 2 of us to 1 instr.... (the third one is technically not a trainee). So it was quite focus in a sense...
(Will not go into steps as it is rather boring)
It was a good experience as it is my first time doing it. Hmmm.... instr was very friendly and helpful. Ya.... my design skills = 0/10. So ermz... it was quite demoralizing. Otherwise it was quite enjoyable.
Thanks to the instr (i forgot her name) and sylvia (and her friend.....) for such an unique exp.
Dental at PolyclinicI decided to get a dental checkup before i join university. More to see if i need to do a wisdom tooth extraction. Hhaa... but both are equally important.
I have not visited the dentist since leaving secondary school... which is a good.... 6 years? haha... Estella could not believe it... She commented that i am so busy till i cannot even squeeze time out for the dentist.
Anyway I booked my dental appointment w Woodlands Polyclinic. Why woodlands? 1 - SAF Dental have to wait for quite long. 2 - BB Polyclinic have to wait for even longer! So here i am! with Woodlands
My appointment was at 1430. I decided to leave my house earlier as i am not very familar with the area. Need some extra time in case i got lost. But hey... my navigational skills isn't that bad after all ... i found the place rather easily and checked-in with the counter at about 1400.
The waiting lounge was air-conditioned and is equipped with a television to keep patients occupied. I waited for about 10 minutes before getting called in.
I though my teeth will be in a very bad condition taking into consideration that i have not visited the dentist for 6 years! But the dentist thinks it is fine and doing ok - much to my surprise actually.
Oh ya... did i mention that the dentist is friendly and professional? - Is a guy ya... I completed my polishing and scaling within 10 minutes, made my payment and was out of the clinic before 1430.
The bill came up to about 40 bucks including the consultation fee. Cheap, professional and fast service. Quite worth it i think! 18 febrero Drive Through in Mac(My experience of the drive-throu service in mac KAP)
It was about 0020 in the morning. I was with another friend in his car and we felt hungry... So we though... y not try the mac drive through?
The first station we "hit" was the sales counter. (Since it is so early in the morning there wasnt really a queue) gave our orders and we told the counter staff we could like to have some chilli sauce.... After noting our orders... he say thank you and asked me to proceed to the collection point.... So there we go to the collection point.
We were wondering which mode of purchase might be faster... so we picked out somebody who have just joined the queue at the walk-in counter and compare.
After a few minutes of waiting.... 1 of the staff came walking towards us w some food and asked if that package was ours.... It wasn't. That was actually for the customer(car) behind. So we waited.
After waiting for a while longer, the staff gave us our correct package... w drinks place neatly on a cardboard designed to hold 4 cups of drink. Did a quick check on the food and we though it should be right so we went off.
We decided that eating in the vehicle is not so conducive so we parked the vehicle and went back into mac to eat. It was there that we notice... ermz... where is the chilli?
In conclusion.... driving through is slow (remember the guy we picked out? He complete his order about 5 to 10 mins ahead of us), staff tend to give u the wrong stuff (Imagine if the customer tries to be funny and just take and go - especially if the package is higher in value) and they tend to forget the sauces (customer MUST check if not might have to make another trip just to grab it)....
Next time i think i am just going to alight from the car and walk in.... faster and less mistakes!
29 noviembre Clubs?A review (personal opinion of course) of some clubs that SAF offers to its NSF: -
SAFRA
SAFRA offers every NSF a term membership for free until the serviceman ORD. They have quite a few clubhouses - Yishun, tampines, toa payoh just to name a few. I visited some of the club houses and actually... some of them are actually quite old. For example the toa payoh safra clubhouse seems like a 20-30 year old building.
Despite that safra in general has several facilities. Eg. Swimming pools, cybercafe, rock walls. They offer a variety of courses on a regular basis. E.g. Air pistol, level 1 sports climbing etc.
Membership after a serviceman ORD cost about 100 bucks for 3 years.
I want to go for the air pistol/rifle course and level 1 sports climbing before i ORD. haha
Chevrons
The SAF Warrent officers and specialist club offers a wide variety of facilties in jurong east area. Chalets, food court (Yes!, food court), pubs etc. Drinks sold there are duty-free (beer). Hence making them very cheap. Chalet is freaking cheap too. A cool place to destress. I got a friend working there as life-guard. Hmmm... Membership to the club is not available to everyone after ORD.
==============================================
SPGG
Something not under SAF, the SP Graduates GuildHouse. Situated stragetically next to SP, attract students to go there to play bowling during breaks. A very new clubhouse, or should i say well-maintain. Very much under-utilized. Bcos it seems rather quiet. Haha... Facililties include a spa, restaurant etc. My friends commented that it is a very cosy place to watch soccer. Drinks are also priced quite cheaply.
Oh yes... entrance fee is think 360+480 (about 800 bucks) F&B spending (the levy) is 30 bucks every 3 months.
At present i maintain membership at all 3 clubs. Visited all at least once. I think i will maintain SPGG membership for a while longer. Haha... still within my limits and i guess is good to hold on to something? 12 noviembre Bowling at CSC - BBDecided to exercise and yup.... bowling... Haha...
CSC - BB bowling alley is new (I.e. the facilities, the balls, shoes etc) even the control panel is touch screen... just opened this year... about a few months ago....
A cool place to go i think. Bowling rates is at 1.50 per game (mon-thurs... before dont know what time) for a limited period only... A deal anyone?I was asking Janice and Kenneth whether if they will accept the following deal: -
- Drive me and another friend to changi village at 7am (monday) for 20 bucks.
They both declined! ... One say lazy to wake up and the other say she dont have access to a car at that hour.
Will you accept the deal? 24 septiembre Life of a Prelim StudentRecently i got to spoke to 1 of my friends who is happening to take her prelims (O levels) in her school. I asked how is her schedule like and this is a summary of what she shared.
She is suppose to take a chemistry paper the next day and she is actually watching tv the previous night.
During the weekends, she is actually watching HK VCDs at home.
I wonder if she is really that confident or just dont care... haha... Anyway, let's wait for the results. 02 septiembre Ice-Skating?I first ice-skated when i was very young. 14 years old if i rmb correctly. I was pulled there by a friend then. I wasnt too keen in it but i guess i should go for the experience.
Just a few days ago, i went ice-skating again. This time round with a few friends who can ice-skate rather well! It has being 7 years since i last tried - a rather long period of time.
I dont really know how to enjoy the sport and i think i became more of a burden to them.
Very sorry to have cause such a burden and dampen your skating session. Thanks for assisting. It is greatly appreciated. 27 agosto Buying a Present? Dont Try West MallJust yesterday i was trying to buy a birthday present for a polytechnic friend and i decided to drop by West Mall and try my luck.
There are a few stores that specialize in "gifts" I think there is this gift n such, precious moments etc.
I spent 20 minutes roaming all the shops and still could not find anything that fit my requirement. I took about 30 minutes to settle for a gift from precious moment.
I think the gifts from that outlet is nice and worth buying... Perhaps next time i shall try other places for a gift. 16 julio World Cup BettingThe World Cup has ended and i guess everyone now is counting on their winnings. 1 of my bunkmates won a mere 10 bucks (at least better than nth) while other friends just lose money. I guess the biggest winner in this world cup is the organization(s) that accept the bets. Imagine how much money they won.
1 of my friends, whom she claims that she knew nth about soccer, betted on the final and third placing matches. Guess what, she lost both. And the most ironic thing she told me was "bet small small nias mahs". Her small small is actually 30 bucks.
Young people nowadays. |
